Beef Jerky

Ingredients

1 pound (about 450 g) thinly sliced Round Top Steak
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
1 tsp Salt
3 tbsp dried Basil
1 tsp Black Pepper
¼ cup Water
½ tsp minced Garlic
5 drops of each Orange, Lime, and Lemon Essential Oil

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Place the meat in the freezer for about 15 minutes, so it will be easier for you to
cut it.
Cut the beef into strips (make sure to do it against the grain), about 1/8 or 1/4 inch
thick
.
Place the strips in a Ziploc bag.
2. Add the remaining ingredients to the bag. Shake the bag until the ingredients
are incorporated and the beef is fully coated.
Place the bag in the fridge and let marinate for at least 4 hours. The longer you
marinate, the richer the flavor.
3. If you have a dehydrator, cook the beef for 4-8 hours at 70 C or 155 F degrees.

If you do not have a dehydrator and want to cook it in the oven, you can cook it at
85 C or 180 F for at least 4 hours. Remember, the time of cooking depends on the
texture that you like. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

If you do not have citrus essential oils, you can simply use lemon, lime, and orange juice. Just add a teaspoon of each of them, as well as a teaspoon of citrus zest. The zest will give the flavor a kick and make it even sharper.
