First I tried the Brita Grand Pitcher. We all know that Brita is a really big brand in this space, so it was time to see what the fuss was about.
Pros
Cons

Next up I gave the other big player in the market a run out PUR.

So, for the first time in my life I tried a water filter that was not either Brita or Pur.

Next up, it was time for the incredibly named, Waterdrop Chubby.

Tips on How to Choose The Best Water Filter Pitcher
When it comes to selecting a water filter pitcher that’s best for you, there’s simply no “one size fits all” answer. It all depends on factors like your budget, convenience and cost of buying replacement filters, the intended users, where you live, and how sturdy it may be.
The first thing you should know is that water is pumped from dams through pipes to water filtration plants and then to storage reservoirs. From there, it mostly flows by gravity to people's homes, schools and businesses in pipes called water mains. Some rain falling in catchments infiltrates into the ground and is called groundwater.
Each water filtration plant may have a slightly different treatment process, depending on where the water is sourced, or local suggestions on what needs to be filtered. This is why when you travel overseas or sometimes even interstate, you have to drink from bottled water unless a filter is available.
Consider the Water Source in your Local Area
When looking at what water filter to choose, you need to first think about where you live, as some areas are higher in TDS than others. For example, Arizona is known for having a high level of TDS in the water supply, and this means you will need a filter that can filter out more than in other areas. It also means you may need to get ready to pay more on the replacement filters.
Consider the Replacement Filters
This is not just a once off purchase, as you will have to restock on the filters every 1-6 months, depending on the filter. Most are within 1-2 months. You should be able to get packs of 2 for $10-$20 for most water filter pitchers.
Consider this ongoing cost as part of the purchase, and buy accordingly. If convenience in being able to replace the filters pretty much wherever you are is a concern, then Pur or Brita are most likely the best bet. However, if you live in a city centre somewhere, then chances are you can find replacement filters for any brand.
Consider the Size of Your Fridge
In the same way that water filter pitchers vary in size, so too do fridges. Remember that to work properly the pitcher will need to stand upright, most likely making its home in the fridge door, where space tends to be a premium. Going for a larger pitcher with more volume might seem like a good convenient idea, until you can’t fit it in your fridge!
Consider All The Likely Users
If it’s just you in the home who will use it, then job done, I guess. However, if you’re like me then you have kids and grandparents and close friends using it. Not everyone will be as careful as you might be - and you don’t want to have a family episode just because your water filter pitcher wasn’t sturdy enough for your 5 year old to work it.
Quick Video Guide
Whilst I was looking I came across this great youtube video, breaking down a lot of the pros and cons of some water filter pitchers too. He didn’t look at all of the same pitchers that I did, but most of them will be similar and it’s still relevant!
My Final Verdict
After trying the 5 different water filter pitchers for a good period of time, I of course had to pick out the best one for me. I live in an Inner City with a fairly low comparative level of TDS so I didn’t need to have a filter that had more than 5 stages.
Going into it, I was sure that I would settle on a Brita or a Pur, but in the end I found the Waterdrop Chubby perfect for me and my family, due to the sturdiness, speed of filtration, and the handle being both child and grandparent friendly.
