Tamari and Lime Chili Beef Jerky Recipe

0

We use Tamari instead of Soy sauce in this recipe to avoid adding extra harsh flavors (since the chilies can be pretty harsh on the tongue themselves). The lime juice gives the beef a fresh note that brings everything together. Tangy, spicy, not very salty, and extremely delicious, this beef jerky will satisfy everyone’s cravings in a jiffy.

Tamari and Lime Chili Beef Jerky 2

Ingredients

1 pound (about 450 g) Round Beef Steak
2 tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Juice of 1 Lime
3 Chilies, dried and diced
1/3 cup Tamari
¼ cup Red Wine Vinegar
tsp Black Pepper

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Freeze the beef for 15 minutes before slicing. Slice it thinly and against the grain.

2. Combine the remaining ingredients in a bowl. Place the beef strips in a Ziploc bag, and pour the marinade mixture over. Seal the bag and shake to combine and coat the beef well.
Refrigerate for a few hours (I left mine overnight).
3. Arrange the beef on the sheets of your dehydrator, and dehydrate for 8-14 hours
at the lowest temperature. You can also dehydrate it in the oven at 93 C or 200
F degrees
, for about 3 ½ hours. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Keep in mind that the leanest cuts of meat make the best beef jerky. Always trim off the excess fat if there is any. And remember, the thinner you slice the meat, the quicker it will dehydrate.
